Legal Liaison Officer

Location: Taunton, Somerset

Salary: £31,589

Hours: Flexible

Contract: Permanent

The UK Hydrographic Office requires legal advice on a wide variety of issues due to the highly complex nature of our work. To ensure legal advice is facilitated and coordinated effectively across the organisation, we have an exciting opportunity for a qualified and experienced legal executive to play a key role in the team.

You will work with Ministry of Defence’s Legal Advisers (MODLA) and other external lawyers to provide legal advice and services to the UKHO, acting as the first point of contact for UKHO’s staff who are seeking legal advice, ensuring consistent and efficient solutions are offered. You will be expected to provide advice on low complexity issues, repeated requests and to coordinate with external legal advisors, in particular MODLA, for more complex requests.

The type of advice sought often includes international law, commercial law, property law and data reuse, so the role offers a lot of variety.

To be considered for the role, you must be a legal executive and have completed CILEX Level 6 exams and have considerable legal experience of working in a legal firm or an in-house practice.

If you have experience in a similar role, we would be delighted to hear from you.

In return, UKHO offer a range of benefits to support your lifestyle, including generous leave allowance, flexible working hours, a lift-share scheme and regular training and development opportunities.
