Solicitor (Property and Construction)

It's an exciting time to join Loughborough University: Times and Sunday Times University of the Year. From our two campuses, the University is enjoying a time of unprecedent achievement. With an ambition to maintain its status as a world leading Higher Education institution, that doesn’t mean standing still. To support this ambition, the University has created a Legal Services team to provide high quality, pragmatic and focussed commercial legal support.

As the lead for Property and Construction legal advice to the University, the successful candidate will support the management of our award-winning campus in Loughborough and our campus on the former Olympic Park in London.

As this is a new post, the successful candidate will work closely with Freeths, who are currently providing property and construction support. Adopting a co-sourcing approach to secure transfer of their knowledge of the University’s property interests, the successful candidate will be required to spend some time working alongside them at the Loughborough and London campuses and in Freeth’s offices in the East Midlands and London. Freeths will be working closely with the University on this recruitment.

The ideal candidate will have solid commercial property experience, familiarity with construction contracts and have confidence to provide early advice on contentious matters in both fields. The successful candidate will need to be able to build strong working relationships with colleagues in our Estates and Facilities Management team and be able to provide timely, pragmatic and commercially focussed advice. Experience of working in house will be an advantage.

Loughborough University is a great place to work and you can find out more about the benefits of being part of the Loughborough team here. With generous leave allowance, award winning campus facilities and broad development opportunities, there’s never been a better time to work here.

The position is full time and permanent. Starting salary will be confirmed on offer of appointment, between £40,792 and £48,677 per annum.
