The Ombudsman investigates complaints from members of the public about unfair treatment or where they have received a poor service through some failure on the part of devolved public bodies in Wales.  The Ombudsman also investigates complaints that a member of a local authority in Wales may have breached their council’s statutory code of conduct for members. 

The Ombudsman is seeking to appoint an Information Governance Manager (£45,591 - £49,086)

The successful candidate will act as the Ombudsman’s designated Data Protection Officer and inform and advise the Ombudsman and his staff on their obligations under the GDPR and other data protection laws.  The Information Governance Manager will also oversee Information Governance and records management across the organisation and will be responsible for responding to requests under the Freedom of Information Act and/or Environmental Information Regulations (DPA/FOI/EIR) as well as Subject Access Requests in accordance with the law and within the statutory timescales.  A good understanding of the legislation governing the Ombudsman’s work will also be required.

The successful candidate must have at least 3 years experience in this field and hold either a Practitioner Certificate in Data Protection or an equivalent qualification.
