We are currently working with a law firm unlike any other.  With nearly 100 years’ experience of successfully representing clients of injury and mistreatment, they have the privilege of working with and supporting the Trade Union Movement and the people they represent.

By providing an inclusive environment, they ensure that individually and collectively they flourish to be the best they can be. They are recognised as one of the UK's leading teams by credible directories including The Legal 500 and Chambers & Partners, as well as being highly recommended in The Times’ Best Law Firms 2019. They pride themselves on being “the most experienced trade union, claimant and employment rights law firm in the UK”, their friendly working environment and their excellent work/life balance.

The opportunity

Due to continued growth they are looking for an experienced Senior Lawyer to join their team of committed and passionate professionals in their London office, to run a varied caseload of litigated and non-litigated Employment Rights cases.  You will have the opportunity to manage employment advice and/or representation matters, such as, unfair dismissal, wages and discrimination claims.  This will provide a platform for you to showcase your exceptional client care and communication skills, sound judgement, confident decision-making and significant legal knowledge and expertise.

The opportunity will suit a confident and compassionate Senior Lawyer with a committed background of representing claimants and victims of employment rights, matched by a strong track record of running complex cases.  With a passion for blending your technical expertise with your outstanding communication and client care skills, you will take pride in delivering a first class service to their clients.  Having the confidence and ability to take appropriate daily decisions on cases to ensure swift progression will be key to your success.

The role

As a Senior Lawyer with at least 5 years PQE, you will run a high value Employment Rights caseload which includes complex cases at the highest values, and you will be assessing and advising on the prospects of success and value of Employment Tribunal claims. You will therefore need to have excellent knowledge of Employment Tribunal rules of procedure and the litigation process.  The role requires excellent prioritisation skills and meticulous attention to detail to enable you to construct clear and effective arguments, yielding the best result for their clients. You will need to show empathy and understanding, providing a professional legal service with a personal touch.

A key element of the role involves mentoring and supervising other team members and supporting them with cases, so an enthusiasm for sharing knowledge and expertise to grow talent within the wider team is essential.  In addition to supporting the team, you will also have excellent networking skills, enabling you to nurture and develop relationships with clients and contributing towards business development.

A day in the life of a Senior Lawyer is never the same, however a typical day may include supervising other case handlers, carrying out relevant investigations, obtaining relevant documents, preparing witness statements; preparing and attending Conferences and Court hearings.

They recognise and reward high performance, with competitive salaries and an extensive benefits package including:

  • Structured pay scales
  • £4,500 car allowance
  • Contributory pension scheme
  • Permanent health insurance
