Qualified Senior Lawyer with experience in housing disputes and property litigation, 9 month posting, London.

Your new company

This reputable London Local Authority will allow you to work within a team of people, creating the opportunity for you to help towards giving back to the public through providing quality legal advice. An opportunity has arisen in the Litigation, Corporate and Property team for a senior lawyer for a 9 month maternity cover.

Your new role

You will be expected to work within a small team of highly motivated and dedicated legal professionals, providing expert advice as a Senior Lawyer to cover maternity leave for 9 months. You will be providing advice pertaining to social housing, in particular: homelessness, possessions, disrepair and antisocial behaviour (ASB). You will also be required to advocate on your own cases, although this may only be minimal. Other duties involve managing a medium to large case load, working within a team and helping your co-workers with issues they might have, through on-going coaching.

What you'll need to succeed

You should be a qualified solicitor, barrister, or fellow of CILEX ideally with 5 years housing experience. You will need to be able to process information quickly, and understand how to successfully manage case loads: properly advising people struggling with problems arising with social housing. Being able to think outside the box, and work well within teams is essential. Furthermore, you will have a solid knowledge of legislation and case law relating to housing with experience in legal services being desirable too, especially within the public sector. You will need to be independent in how you work, being able to use your own initiative and operate under minimum supervision.

What you'll get in return

You will be joining a friendly team of people who work well under pressure, and constantly aim to fulfil their goals in helping the public through providing expert advice. It will be an exciting environment, with an open planned office, and a supporting network in place to help you further your career.
