We are currently working with a law firm unlike any other.  With nearly 100 years’ experience of successfully representing clients of injury and mistreatment, they have the privilege of working with and supporting the Trade Union Movement and the people they represent.

By providing an inclusive environment, they ensure that individually and collectively they flourish to be the best they can be. They are recognised as one of the UK's leading teams by credible directories including The Legal 500 and Chambers & Partners, as well as being highly recommended in The Times’ Best Law Firms 2019. They pride themselves on being “the most experienced trade union, claimant and employment rights law firm in the UK”, their friendly working environment and their excellent work/life balance.

The opportunity

Due to continued growth they are looking for an experienced Senior Lawyer to join their team of committed and passionate professionals in their Manchester office.  You will be engaged in challenging and rewarding, high value casework as you represent clients who are victims of serious injury.  This will provide a platform for you to showcase your exceptional client care and communication skills, sound judgement, confident decision-making and significant legal knowledge and expertise.

The opportunity will suit a confident and compassionate Senior Lawyer with a committed background of representing claimants and victims of serious injury, matched by a strong track record of running complex cases.  You will be handling serious injury claims involving, spinal cord injuries, fatal accidents, brain injuries and claims involving amputations.  Therefore you will have a natural ability to provide legal services with a personal touch, demonstrating your care, understanding and sensitivity to clients who may have suffered injury.

The role

As a Senior Lawyer with at least 8 years PQE, you will run a high value Multi-Track caseload which includes complex cases at the highest values, and you will be able to deal with all aspects of running these cases from initial interview to trial.  You will therefore need to have thorough working knowledge and understanding of the issues involved in dealing with Serious and Catastrophic Multi-Track cases, including all forms of rehabilitation and issues arising out of the litigation process, including costs.  The ideal candidate will also play an important role in helping to achieve the team’s objectives.

A key element of the role involves mentoring and supervising other team members and supporting them with cases, so an enthusiasm for sharing knowledge and expertise to grow talent within the wider team is essential.  In addition to supporting the team, you will also have excellent networking skills, enabling you to nurture and develop relationships with clients and contributing towards business development.

A day in the life of a Senior Lawyer is never the same, however a typical day may include supervising other case handlers, carrying out relevant investigations, obtaining relevant documents, preparing witness statements; preparing and attending Conferences and Court hearings (CCMCs/Trials).

Benefits

They recognise and reward high performance, with competitive salaries and an extensive benefits package including:
  • Structured pay scales
  • £4,500 car allowance
  • Contributory pension scheme
  • Permanent health insurance
  • Life assurance
  • 25 days annual leave (in addition to bank holidays)
  • Employee Assistance Programme
  • Enhanced maternity and paternity pay
  • Cycle to work scheme
  • Organised sports and social club
  • Annual travel and parking loans
  • Financial assistance for professional development

They believe that attracting talent that reflects the diversity of the communities within which they live and work is a key part of their business, which is why they are an equal opportunities employer.
