Your new company
A public sector organisation who provide a vital emergency response service to the public in London. They are looking for a newly qualified Lawyer to join them on an interim basis as a Legal Case-Work Officer to carry out all such duties determined by the Employment and Litigation Team Leader as necessary and to assist in the provision of a high quality legal service to the Brigade in a range of disciplines and subject areas.

Your new role
You will be managing a personal caseload of civil and criminal litigation, including personal injury, debt recovery, miscellaneous claims and prosecutions arising from regulatory functions. Furthermore, you will manage employment law, including associated litigation in the courts and in tribunals, internal disciplinary and grievance procedures and Health and Safety Law. In addition you will attend hearings in Magistrates' and County Courts and other Courts, Tribunals and Enquiries and undertake advocacy as necessary. Finally you will prepare case papers and other documents as necessary, particularly in relation to particular stages in legal proceedings, including discovery, issuing applications, preparing affidavits, statements and documentation for the appropriate court or tribunal.



What you'll need to succeed
To be considered for the role you should be a newly qualified Solicitor or equivalent and have some demonstrable experience of civil litigation, criminal litigation, personal injury, debt recovery and employment Law. Previous experience of working in a legal environment, ideally within or alongside a public authority will be advantageous. Finally good knowledge of Employment and Personal Injury law, with an awareness of local government law or of constitutional & administrative law is beneficial, as is an awareness of the need to be alert to political sensitivities.
