Lawyer (Conveyancing)

Lancaster City Council’s Legal Services are seeking to appoint a qualified Conveyancing Lawyer to deal with a diverse and demanding caseload relating to commercial, residential and industrial property, landlord/tenant, and other commercial property matters. The post involves taking the lead on complex conveyancing and other commercial transactions with particular emphasis on commercial redevelopment and leasing. The post holder will be required to provide advice in relation to major and complex project work, as well as routine conveyancing transactions, and therefore knowledge of procurement and contract law either in a public or private sector environment is likely to be useful.

You will be part of a supportive team of Lawyers with a passion for excellence in the provision of local government legal services. This post is suitable for candidates looking for a longer term career in the public sector.

The hours of work for this position is 37 hours per week, working Monday to Friday and will be based at Lancaster Town Hall. The Council currently operates a Flexible Working Hours Scheme, which applies to this post.
