Financial Services Regulatory Lawyer

My client is a commercial firm based in Cardiff with offices in London. They have a growing non-contentious financial services team working for clients in the insurance, pensions, wealth management, crypto-assets and banking industries. Many of their clients are London-based, but they also have clients throughout the UK.

The firm works for traditional financial services firms, but they are particularly known for our work with Fintech and Insuretech firms who are “disruptors” in the financial services industry.

They  are looking for a non-contentious financial services regulatory lawyer (NQ to 7+ years) to join our busy team.

The successful candidate will have a good academic background, enjoy investigative and research work, have good drafting skills, pay attention to detail, be able to clearly communicate technical issues (verbally and in writing) and be able to apply technical skills to a creative and rapidly changing commercial environment. Some experience in giving regulatory advice and assistance and/or drafting and advising on commercial contracts is preferred, and this experience will ideally be in the financial services sector. Technical excellence, enthusiasm to learn and attention to detail are critical.

I will consider candidates for a junior lawyer role with no or little regulatory experience if you have a genuine desire to specialise in this niche area and an enthusiasm to learn.

Training will be available both externally and within the firm (either as an NQ or a more experience lawyer taking a new career direction). Alternatively, a candidate with the necessary skills, experience and technical excellence will take a more senior role alongside the existing team.

This is an opportunity to specialise in a rapidly changing and technically challenging area of law, working with high calibre traditional regulated financial services clients as well as entrepreneurial “tech” newcomers to the industry.
