NTU has a thriving academic community, and it’s one where you’ll feel truly valued. We know our academics are central to our success as an award-winning university, and research centre of excellence.

Our rise up the league tables in recent years, alongside a number of prestigious national awards, demonstrate the potential that creating and forging excellent partnerships, while harnessing the talents of all our people, can bring. Most notably we have achieved a gold rating in the Teaching Excellence Framework and been awarded the Queen’s Anniversary Prize for our pioneering research. Now we’re looking for more passionate, ambitious people to join us.

If you are in the early stages of an academic career and are considering joining NTU, then our Early Career Academic Development Programme could be just right for you.

Nottingham Law School is one of the leading providers of academic and professional legal education in the country with an established record of delivering innovative and transformational courses. We are one of the largest law schools in the UK, offering a range of undergraduate degrees, academic and practitioner taught postgraduate courses and a strong research degrees programme. The School has over 100 academic staff and in excess of 2,800 students of whom over 500 are students studying on postgraduate or practitioner courses.

The School has built a reputation for research in areas including insolvency law, business law, criminal justice, human rights, dispute resolution, sports law, medical law, and legal education.  We have long established links with policy makers, professional bodies and leading law firms, as well as with a number of significant international associations.  We have an extensive record of delivery of excellent bespoke training programmes for practitioners and professional bodies and have strengths in commissioned research, both in the UK and overseas. The School’s research activities are recognised as world leading or internationally excellent with some activity supported by external funding from a range of sources.

The School is looking to appoint a Principal Lecturer to support the work of the Director of External Engagement.  We welcome applications from academics with a track record of teaching on postgraduate professional courses and who have a commercial focus and experience of working with legal practitioners.  We would particularly welcome applicants with corporate law experience.  A first and higher degree in law and a relevant post-graduate qualification, such as professional qualification as a solicitor or barrister in the jurisdiction of England and Wales, is essential.

Additional Information: Given the nature of the role, some weekend work and travel may be required subject to the needs of the business.

Should you have any queries in relation to this position, contact Dr Paula Moffatt, Director of External Engagement via email paula.moffatt@ntu.ac.uk
