Our client a busy Local Authority based in Norfolk, are seeking a Senior Lawyer to join their Planning & Compulsory Purchase Team for an initial three month assignment with the strong possibility of extension.

The purpose of the role is to provide and supervise others in the provision of professional legal advice and advocacy to clients of the Planning and Environment Team to protect their interests, meeting standards of practice quality and consistency. You will line manage team members by allocating work and resources to meet client timescales, developing staff skills, and ensuring work is done at the correct level of expertise.

The successful Planning Lawyer will be required to demonstrate recent experience in Planning Law as the majority of the work will be at a complex level.

This role will include: drafting and negotiating bi or tri party (with local LPAs) development agreements (principally section 106 but can include s278 and other statutory agreements for development sites) for the County Council's statutory roles as education authority, highway authority and mineral and waste planning authority.  It is fast moving and needs good case management skills, ability to communicate effectively with officers and LPA representatives as well as good drafting and negotiating skills.
