The Role

We have an excellent opportunity in Bristol which will see you contribute to the overall work of the Commercial Unit, with particular emphasis on Financial Services and supporting the partner with the on-going growth and development of practice-wide activities.

The job holder must be able to demonstrate first rate experience of dealing with a wide range of financial services and commercial issues and advice for clients, including a track record of demonstrating insight and understanding of complex client needs and the business context and marketplace in which they are operating.

This includes dealing with (i) a wide range of regulatory issues and financial services specific transactions, and (ii) commercial issues supporting clients through the full life cycle of commercial transactions and a broad range of commercial arrangements (for example, including any/all of the following: outsourcing, procurement, e-commerce, intellectual property, franchising, software development, manufacturing and supply, agency, marketing and distribution arrangements).

•To undertake a full range of existing and new financial services and commercial matters for a range of clients
•To support others in the team with any specific business development and marketing activities to develop client work and fee income as part of supporting the business and strategic plans
•To work with the Head of Financial Services Sector and others within the commercial team to further develop the offering and client base as required
 

What they are Looking For:

Proven technical knowledge and experience of a broad range of financial services, law and general commercial experience, including some/all of the following:

•General financial services commercial/regulatory advice and risk management
•FS-specific commercial arrangements – distribution agreements, AR Agreements, platform agreements, outsourcing
•Relationship management with the FCA, systems and controls
•General commercial contracts (Agency, distribution, franchising, provision of goods and services)
•Information and communications technology (software licensing, software/hardware supply and distribution, services agreements, fixed and wireless telecommunications contracts, outsourcing)
•Regulatory environment (data protection, FOIA, procurement)
•Experience of some business development and marketing activities and increasing the client base
•A highly flexible approach and the capability to work well and flourish within a team environment
•Excellent all-round communication skills including the capability to develop and maintain strong client relationships
•Ability to collaborate and work effectively with other colleagues internally, both within the wider team and across all practice areas
•Proven commitment to working within a quality standard environment
•Commitment to on-going professional and personal development including self-awareness and self-reflection and continuous improvement
•A track record of consistently delivering to targets and objectives
•An understanding of the importance of knowledge management and sharing
•Previous experience of working with a CRM system would be an advantage
