Commercial Lawyer

Exciting opportunity for a Commercial Lawyer to join the legal team in a well-regarded University based in East of England.

The University's legal requirements reflect the mixture of academic excellence and engagement with the commercial world, making a lively forward thinking place to work, and the exceptional opportunity to develop a broad range of in-house legal skills and experience.

As a Solicitor you'll report to the University Solicitor (Head of Legal Services) and provide legal advice independently and as part of a small legal team to senior managers and other internal clients on a wide range of commercial, corporate and property law matters.

As a Commercial Lawyer you will help to ensure that all is compliant with legal and regulatory obligations, in order to withstand scrutiny by relevant external bodies as well as legal challenges.

The successful individual will have a strong commercial acumen and a definite "can do" attitude.

Responsibilities

• Explain complex legal issues to non-legal colleagues and will be comfortable dealing at short notice with often unpredictable legal issues
• Management of your own legal files
• Drafting and negotiating a variety of commercial agreements, therefore you will need to have excellent drafting and other technical legal skills
• Researching, writing and editing Commecial reports

You'll be a current UK qualified solicitor who has ideally had strong training from a recognised private practice law firm, although all background experience will be considered. You'll have post qualification experience although applications from keen and interesting solicitors with less experience will also be considered.
