Court of Protection Solicitor

Our client, based in Reading, has an opportunity for a talented and enthusiastic private client solicitor seeking to specialise in Court of Protection matters (NQ - 4 years’ PQE) due to growth in the department.

The firm deals with all issues relating to people who lack the mental capacity to make decisions themselves.

The team has particular expertise in helping to protect and manage the property and financial affairs of people with mental incapacity to prevent them from being exploited or denied what is rightfully theirs.

The firm is Chambers listed and nationally well reputed to provide this niche specialism.

The successful candidate will join a department led by two partners to assist one partner directly undertaking private client work, specialising in Court of Protection.

The Court of Protection solicitor's work will include how to:

• Apply to have a deputy appointed.
• Act as a deputy or act for an appointed deputy.
• Apply for a statutory will.
• Manage all financial affairs and set up personal care arrangements as needed.
• Apply for authority to deal with a one-off specific issue.

The ideal candidate will be a qualified solicitor with an excellent academic background (2:1 degree), recently qualified up to 4 years’ PQE.

You will be interested in marketing, have strong interpersonal and written skills, be able to use your initiative, have a flexible attitude to working hours and work well with a team.
