Your new company
A world-class restaurants chain with a global business and 14,000 people internationally. The company turned over in excess of £520m last year, and does not suffer the same challenges as many of its competitors, as it is able to reinvest the global revenues into UK business. The business is entering an interesting time in its evolution, in that it is looking to revamp its entire brand for the next generation. The legal function is small in headcount, but plays an indispensable role across the organisation, dealing with global issues from its UK base. The business offers employees an exceptional benefits package, including car allowance, healthy bonus and generous discounts in its franchises. The company has two offices in the UK, one in Central London and one in West London. The key stakeholders are based in the West London office, but the business is content for the successful candidate to spend three days in West London and two in Central, with the occasional working from home day at managerial discretion.

Your new role
A mid level commercial generalist role reporting into the Head of Legal. This position will manage a Trainee and a Legal Assistant, giving the successful candidate early management experience. The role will entail supporting global operations, negotiating and reviewing a wide range of commercial agreements, while also advising on franchising, intellectual property and data privacy matters. The role will further support on compliance and company secretarial matters, giving the successful candidate a broad range of exposure to different areas of the business. You will build relationships with different internal and external stakeholders, all the while representing the brand with integrity and purpose.

What you'll need to succeed
You will be a UK or Commonwealth qualified lawyer with unrestricted right to work in the UK. You will have c. 3+ PQE (as a guide only), with good training and a commercial mindset. Whether trained in practice or with an in-house team, you will have some measure of in-house exposure, even if through a secondment. You will have a demonstrable commercial generalist background, but direct industry experience is not a pre-requisite of the role. You will be thoughtful and measured in your guidance, and while approachable you will also have the presence of mind to push back to strong characters when necessary. You will have a genuine interest in not only furthering your own career, but also in nurturing a trainee with diligence and support.

What you'll get in return
You will be working with one of the most recognisable restaurant chains in the world, benefiting from the power of the brand and the quality of people that it is able to attract. You will report into a supportive Head of Legal who has extensive knowledge of the business, while you will work on a diverse range of matters that will serve to make you versatile and pervasive as an advisor to the business. The business offers a brilliant benefits package above and beyond the salary, which encompasses a car allowance, generous bonus, excellent pension and the ability to work flexibly on occasion. Naturally the role will also offer significant retail discounts.
