Clinical Negligence Solicitor
Your new company
A membership organisation for optometrists and other optical professionals based in central London. They protect, support and represent their members throughout their optical careers. They are looking for a Clinical Negligence Solicitor to join their busy legal team for a 12 month fixed term contract. The main purpose of the role is to have conduct of clinical negligence complaints and claims. This extends from providing preliminary advice on the phone and in writing, investigating concerns raised about professional members and responding and managing the claim appropriately.
Your new role
In your new role, you will be expected to manage a caseload of clinical negligence complains and claims. This extends from providing preliminary advice on the phone and in writing, investigating concerns raised about professional members and responding and managing the claim appropriately. You will also be expected to draft and write responses to patients and claimants' solicitors and advise and prepare responses to various bodies (NHS and others) for members. Moreover, you will prepare witness statements and organise bundles for trial in relation to clinical claims. Finally you will arrange conferences with counsel, experts and members and advise on negotiating settlements and recovery of costs.
What you'll need to succeed
To be considered for this role, you should be a qualified Solicitor, ideally with a minimum of minimum of 5 years PQE. You must have experience of clinical negligence and how to assess risk management in cases as well as having a clear understanding of professional integrity and confidentiality in delivering advice. You will be self-motivated and have the ability to juggle priorities and work both alone and as part of a team. Finally you will be flexible and adaptable with the ability to work in a changing environment and manage multiple work activities, projects and deadlines.
