An opportunity has arisen at one the region's more modern firms which has made excellent progress in forging a great reputation within family law with its reach covering the Thames Valley and beyond. In a relatively short space of time they have already achieved great success in providing an excellent service to clients with their continuing ambitions of growth further evidenced by the opening of a further new office. The firm has a top rate reputation within family law and as a result attracts a steady stream of high net worth clients instructing them on the full remit of privately funded family law matters.
The firm are seeking to bring in an experienced solicitor to take on the role of Compliance Manager. This is a part-time role which is expected to require 3 working days a week. The firm are flexible in how that time is spread over the week dependent on the individual. As an experienced solicitor you will ideally previously have been appointed as COLP as this is the role you will carry out on a daily basis in order to ensure the firm satisfies all relevant requirements set out by the Solicitors Regulation Authority together with any additional regulators. You will be responsible for and should therefore be able to demonstrate competencies in:
- Developing, implementing and maintaining compliance procedures, systems and processes.
- Ensuring a culture of regulatory compliance across the firm in relation to procedures, systems and processes.
- Acting as the firms designated complaints handler.
- Monitoring, recording and reporting any compliance breaches in line with regulatory requirements.
- Maintaining the firm's compliance training programme in order to ensure that all staff are aware of their individual responsibility in relation to risk and compliance.
- Maintain up to date knowledge on sector changes, ensuring updated policies and procedures are shared firm wide.
This is a really interesting role, with the firm having a number of offices across the Thames Valley (Oxon, Berks, Surrey) the position allows the individual plenty of where they would like to base themselves. The role does require an individual with personality who is keen to engage on a personal level across the business in order to promote an excellent culture of compliance therefore some travel will be required from time to time. Team working and collaboration are seen as key drivers for success in this position and you will work across the business as necessary with IT, HR and the Company's COFA.
