Assistant City Solicitor

£59,620 - £66,313

Liverpool City Council is seeking to recruit to a key post in its City Solicitor’s Office. The City has become the most exciting and rapidly evolving place to live and work in the northwest. This is reflected in the quality and quantity of challenging work associated with the delivery of the Mayor’s Inclusive Growth Plan. We believe that the post of Assistant City Solicitor provides an excellent opportunity to progress your career working for a large local authority which is ambitious for our city and our residents. We are continuously working to improve both our commercial approach and the high standard of client care offered to our clients.

This post is a key part of Liverpool City Council’s City Solicitors Office, leading and supporting a team of Principal Solicitors who cover the full range of local authority legal work. You will also undertake the role of Deputy Monitoring Officer and work alongside, and deputise for, the City Solicitor.

The role will play a key part in the ongoing transformation of legal support to ensure its alignment with client departments and their aims and objectives. The holder will need to provide robust clear legal advice and have a detailed knowledge and experience of local authority law.

We offer a generous annual leave entitlement, local government pension scheme, flexible working arrangements and a work environment which gives you the chance to use and develop your skills within a forward-thinking service.
