Are you an experienced Clinical/Medical Negligence paralegal/legal executive looking for an opportunity to progress?

Due to growth, this leading law firm with multiple offices across the North West is looking for a new member to join their successful team In Manchester.

You will be working within a team designed to deal quickly and proactively with lower valued clinical negligence cases with a personable approach to file handling in preparation for the potential introduction of Fixed Recoverable Costs.

You will be expected to handle cases transferred from senior solicitors when assessed as falling into the quick tracks criteria

You will be responsible for drafting letters of claims, quantifying claims and negotiating settlement up to the point of issuing court proceedings.

You will have the opportunity to train and mentor new and junior members of staff. This is a great steppingstone to make the transition from fee earner to management level.

You will be reporting directly into the head of department.

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft programmes
  • Proficient in Proclaim case management
  • Good document drafting skills
  • High levels of customer care
  • Previous fee earning experience within a Clinical/Medical negligence department
  • Experience in training and mentoring new and junior members would be preferred

Main Responsibilities

  • Reviewing cases
  • Dealing with client queries
  • Drafting letters of claim
  • Drafting letters of response
  • Reviewing and collating further evidence
  • Quantifying cases and negotiating settlement
  • Ensuring work undertaken on cases is proportionate to their value
  • Providing advice to clients on potential issues on their case
  • Ensuring your cases are kept on track and are settled as quickly as possible or moved on for issue
  • Adhere to company best practise
  • Recording time in accordance with the team's KPI's
