Director, Professional Conduct
Milton Keynes
£130,000 - £150,000 (depending on experience) plus attractive benefits package

ICAEW (The Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales) is a world leading professional body with over 152,000 chartered accountant members in 160 countries, providing qualifications to students and technical support for our members.  ICAEW is also a regulator of audit, insolvency, investment business advice and probate and, as a condition of its Royal Charter, runs a disciplinary scheme to ensure that its members act with integrity and maintain high professional standards.

The Professional Conduct Director’s role is to manage a team of 40 staff (including lawyers and accountants) in the investigation of misconduct complaints against members and member firms, from initial fact-finding through to oral hearings before tribunals.  The PCD Director will report directly to the Executive Director, Professional Standards Department (“PSD”) with PSD’s work being overseen by the independent ICAEW Regulatory Board.

The successful candidate will be an experienced solicitor or barrister who is either already working in-house in a senior regulatory role or a private practice lawyer with exposure to professional regulatory work or other relevant litigation experience.  While ideal, experience of audit, accountancy or insolvency work is not essential.  The successful candidate will have sufficient gravitas and experience to represent ICAEW in its interactions with other professional body regulators and its many oversight regulators. The successful candidate will also need to demonstrate experience in managing teams of professional staff and a commitment to creating a culture which encourages integrity, openness, honesty and mutual respect.

ICAEW is committed to diversity and inclusion and being an equal opportunities employer. To find out more, or to register your interest, please contact our retained consultant, Andrew Roberts of Espero Consulting on 0845 241 2127 or andrew.roberts@esperoconsulting.com.

All direct or third party applications will be forwarded to Espero Consulting for consideration.
