The Company

We represent a nationwide, Legal 500 firm seeking to recruit a talented Court of Protection Solicitor on a full-time permanent basis

The Company is a leading Legal Aid practice providing services across England and Wales and is recognised in Legal 500 and Chambers for its excellence in Court of Protection Law.

Our Client has a team of 10 Court of Protection solicitors and caseworkers in various locations across the UK and is looking for Court of Protection solicitors who are willing to supervise a team of trainee solicitors/caseworkers in handling a varied workload of Court of Protection matters. The Company is embarking on an ambitious plan to expand their Court of Protection team to 25 staff by the end of this financial year.

Our clients Court of Protection team has been recognised by The Legal 500 for their dedication to achieving the best possible results for their clients and for putting a “tremendous amount of work” into their cases.   The team is multidisciplinary team regularly collaborating with the company’s experts in mental capacity, mental health, community care, clinical negligence, family, childcare and public law. Their team is dedicated to its clients and support family members and advocates and are regularly instructed by the Official Solicitor in cases relating to the wellbeing of an individual who lacks capacity, including health and welfare, medical treatment, financial issues and mental capacity.

The Role

  • Variety of duties including dealing with including
  • a range of Court of Protection matters
  • personal injury trusts; statutory wills and gift applications;
  • deputyship applications;
  • on-going deputyship administration;
  • health and social care judicial review and ancillary applications such as trustee orders

The Candidate

Applications are encouraged from solicitors and legal executives who have a strong understanding of Court of Protection Law.

  • Having practised in Court of Protection Law for at least 24 months is essential.
  • Experience in Community Care Law is desirable but not essential.
  • Experience in Mental Health law is desirable but not essential
  • Excellent understanding of Civil Legal Aid funding provisions.
  • Experience in supervising is desirable
  • Good IT skills to work in a paperless environment are essential.
