Sellick Partnership are seeking a highly motivated individual with strong communication and organisational skills to join a busy Local Authority based in Hertfordshire on a locum basis.

This is a great opportunity for a Democratic Services Officer to provide high quality governance support to the Local Authority and its committee system. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that the decision-making procedures comply with the law and the required standards leading with the Corporate Services Manager, in the provision of an effective and efficient Corporate Services function for the Executive Leadership Team (ELT), Council Committees and Working Groups administered by the team.


The successful Democratic Services Officer will be responsible for:

  • Providing support to the Chairman and Vice Chairman of the Council's Committees, including the preparation of agendas and minutes
  • Attending Committee meetings
  • Updating and logging data onto IT packages (e.g. Committee Management Information Systems)
  • Provide advice and information to all members in the most effective ways to support the carrying out of their duties
  • Attending evening meetings
