A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a planning solicitor to join an expanding team within a well-respected legal 500 regional firm in Leeds.
This role is ideal for a planning lawyer who is ambitious and who wants to be part of a cutting-edge that has grown rapidly. This full-service commercial firm has shown consistent and significant growth for the past 7-8 years and their rate of development shows no sign of slowing which is creating significant opportunity for those within the firm.
This role is to join a strong team of 3 lawyers, the partner spent many years at an international law firm but they chose to join a regional firm where they could grow a team from scratch. This has gone well and this is a strategic piece of recruitment to ensure that they have the right long term structure in place. They are looking for someone who has both the aptitude and appetite to join the department at a relatively senior level, probably at least 7 years pqe, and get actively involved in all aspects of the team with a view to developing their skills and hopefully stepping into a leadership role in the midterm. Consequently you must be interested in not only doing the work to a high quality but also in the strategy and development of the team and the work.
The team already have an excellent reputation within the Yorkshire market, and have been recognised within the Legal 500 and Chambers. The work that they do is of the highest quality so you will gain access to significant quality work for some major local and national companies, including acting for national companies, major house builders and significant landowners, many of whom are household names. They handle both non contentious and contentious work and so advocacy skills will be useful.
This is a great role for someone who has the desire to develop their career but perhaps feels that there is a glass ceiling where they are, this is certainly not the case here as the firm will be proactively encouraging the progression of this individual into a leadership role and will back this up with the required training and development for support them.
The firm have a fantastic working environment and really good quality back up and support, whether that be from within your own team or from the wider departments as they have a really collegiate approach. They also have fabulous back office having really invested in IT, marketing, training and management.
Candidates who are at least 7 years PQE are likely to have the right level of knowledge/experience to undertake the role, however, it could be that you are much more senior. This role is to be the clear right hand person to the teams founding partner, however there is mid to longer term opportunity to take on the running of the team itself and given the nature of the partner you will have every opportunity to input in the direction of the development of the team.
The firm themselves have a reputation for recruiting really good quality lawyers and them developing really well within the firm, testament to both the firm and the people that they recruit! This really is a fabulous opportunity for a Planning lawyer looking for a very clear career opportunity.
