Salary: £42,683 - £43,662
Workbase: Cumbria House, Carlisle (flexible working available)
Contract: Permanent
Cumbria County Council are looking for experienced and successful candidates to join our organisation as Lead Lawyers. This is a fantastic career opportunity for those looking to progress in a role where you will lead and supervise, as well as manage a more complex and corporately significant caseload.
We have a number of opportunities across various specialist areas of law, and we are welcoming applications from candidates with at least three years post qualification experience.
Roles/Vacancies available:
Lead Lawyer – Children’s Services; two positions available, one based in Carlisle (3 days per week) and one in the South of Cumbria (full time)

The ideal candidates will be strong communicators, with experience of working in either local authorities or a politically sensitive environment. You will provide legal advice and other relevant legal services to support strategic planning, policy formation, and corporate governance, as well as providing representation at decision-making bodies, boards/panels, working groups and on external bodies as required.
As a Lead Lawyer, you will provide management and supervisory support to designated team members, developing and mentoring less experienced colleagues and trainee solicitors. You will also work collaboratively with the Senior/Group Lawyers, ensuring the provision of a cost-effective and efficient service.
