Workbase: Predominantly at Cumbria House, Carlisle, but flexible working is available

Cumbria County Council is looking for a dynamic and innovative Senior Manager to join its Legal and Democratic Services team at an exciting time of growth and expansion.

The newly created role of Senior Manager Legal and Democratic Services offers the right candidate the opportunity to shape and develop the Service.
You will be looking to develop a service known for professional excellence across all areas; a service that promotes and develops strong, collaborative relationships with the departments that it supports. You will be a forward thinking leader looking to learn from best practice and maximises the use of technology to ensure an effective and efficient modern service.
You will be a senior lawyer/solicitor or barrister with management experience and knowledge of issues affecting local authorities and the wider public sector, including a good working knowledge of local government law and governance. You will have good political awareness, having worked in a politically sensitive environment, as well as understanding of exceptional customer engagement in continually improving services.
We are looking for an excellent communicator and a natural team player, who is able to work under pressure whilst motivating the team and staying proactive.
