In this context the University is seeking to appoint its first expert Practitioner Director. In this exciting new non-executive role you will report to the Dean, Faculty of Professional Studies, and will have the following responsibilities;

  • Provide guidance and mentoring to the Academic Operational Lead and other academic staff employed within the School of Law and its specialist Centre for Contemporary Coronial Law
  • Assist and influence the School to develop innovative and relevant profession/ practitioner focused academic programmes and associated initiatives at both undergraduate and postgraduate level; to meet the needs of future students and the legal profession more generally
  • Contribute to the managament of undergraduate and taught postgraduate programmes across the Law Portfolio and to contribute to the development of all facets of Law within the School.
  • Contribute to the delivery of teaching, assessment, curriculum development and associated research and enterprise initiatives.

To be successful in the role and make a tangible / valuable contribution to the legal professionals of the future you will;

  • Be able to balance your external legal work commitments with this remunerated non-executive role.
  • Currently be operating at partner level in a mid to top tier legal firm or be a practicing barrister - ideally at the Queen's Counsel (QC) level.
  • Have significant people management and client relationship management experience and associated networks.
  • Understand the emerging future needs of the legal profession and the role of higher education in preparing graduates for the legal profession.
