Brighter futures for all
Our clients’ child protection teams work hard to safeguard the youngest generation in the community. But to make an impact, they need the help of a trusted and highly skilled legal team. As a Lawyer in one of our specialist teams, you’ll play a crucial role in changing young lives for the better as you continue to build your career. As part of HB Public Law, you’ll also have access to exceptional development opportunities.
HB Public Law is a shared service between a number of London boroughs and home counties’ local authorities. Staff are employed by Harrow Council, but work for a range of public sector clients. Although you’ll focus mainly on serving one borough, you’ll be part of a larger team that collaborates closely and shares expertise. It means you’ll be working with supportive, knowledgeable people in one of the country’s leading public sector law practices.
Day to day, you’ll manage a significant caseload, providing expert advice and representation. Cases could cover everything from child protection and adoption, to assistance with education matters including special educational needs. You’ll be expected to travel to court and meetings to support specific cases and projects, which could involve local authorities and schools.
We’re looking for qualified Lawyers with experience of children’s social care. You should be familiar with public law proceedings and duties for Children in Need and Looked After Children. With knowledge of the concepts underpinning local government law too, you’ll have the confidence and credibility to advise officers and Members. The role is a career-graded position with opportunities for able and motivated individuals to progress in due course to a senior lawyer position in the practice. As part of that journey you’ll also have the chance to mentor junior staff and help the team develop. And by working with experienced senior Lawyers at the forefront of their field, you’ll enhance your own skills too.
With flexible working and advocacy opportunities, this role offers tremendous scope to progress with our support.
To find out more information please contact Matthew Lees on 0203 849 2792 or via email at matthew.lees@penna.com
As discussed Andrew I think we’ll only target the Lawyer – our G10 and G11 grades.
