Grade 10, £36,486 to £43,404 per annum

Department: Finance and Governance

Ref: SC03458

The role

As an  Assistant Employment Lawyer with Southwark, you’ll enjoy a breadth of work across different aspects of employment law. You’ll be a key source of legal advice for the Council. Handling your own caseload, you’ll deal with all matters relating to the Council’s work. And, working with senior lawyers and other colleagues, you’ll support the development of policies and projects to secure the achievement of council objectives. Your work will enable us to deliver the best possible services for our people as well as our residents.

The requirements

We’re looking for a qualified Solicitor specialising in employment law. Alternatively, you could be newly qualified, with some experience or knowledge of employment law and advice.

Ideally, you’ll have knowledge of both claimant and respondent work, and of contentious and non-contentious work, preferably gained in a public sector context. If not, then you must demonstrate the ability to learn quickly. We encourage applications from people seeking to return to employment and will consider flexible working for the right candidate where possible.

Recruitment timetable

Closing date: 3 December 2019.

Interview date: 16 December 2019.
