Senior Crown Prosecutors – Extradition

National

Salary £48,576 - £61,660

Can you help deliver justice?

With crime increasingly having a global dimension, the CPS Extradition Unit plays a vital role in ensuring that those accused or convicted of crimes in other jurisdictions are surrendered to stand trial or serve their sentence.

The CPS Extradition Unit represents foreign authorities seeking the return of ‘requested persons’ in extradition cases. The Unit provides high quality advice to foreign authorities on the content and validity of requests and represents foreign authorities in extradition proceedings at Westminster Magistrates’ Court and before the High Court.

As a Senior Crown Prosecutor (SCP) within the unit, you will need to demonstrate high levels of communication and analytical skills. You will also be expected to maintain and promote co-operation with a wide range of individuals from domestic and international agencies.  The role demands a lawyer who can establish credibility and earn the trust of others by the depth of their knowledge and expertise.

Lawyers with criminal and/or extradition experience are encouraged to apply, however all successful candidates will benefit from an induction period and supervision in order to develop their knowledge of this specialist area of law.

The Extradition Unit is based at Petty France, London, and SCPs are regularly deployed to carry out advocacy at Westminster Magistrates’ Court, however, with successful candidates based outside of London and the home counties we are willing to work with flexibility and make use of remote working from a suitable location.

Delivering justice is a complex pursuit with work that is sometimes emotionally challenging, which is why we offer a range of benefits including flexible working, civil service pension scheme,   access to employee savings including high street retailer offers and discounts and 25 days leave, rising to 30 days after 5 years’ service.

Closing Date: 20th December 2019
