Fixed-term contract until 28 February 2023
Introduction:
nplaw are looking for three new trainee solicitors to start training contracts with us in 2021. One post commences 1 March 2021; two posts commence 1 September 2021. We welcome applications from both a law and non-law background but you must have completed and passed your Legal Practice Course before the start date.
We offer first-rate training in a friendly and supportive working environment. If successful, you will undertake a two-year training contract with us spending at least four months in our five different practice areas: child protection; dispute resolution; planning and the environment; property; and public law and standards. When you qualify, we hope you will stay with us and we will do our best to place you in the area of law that suits you most.
About us:
We are a public sector shared legal service. We have a wealth of experience gained through many years of advising local government, public bodies and charitable institutions. We offer our clients tried and tested expertise in a wide range of disciplines and our public service ethos sets us apart from private legal practices. We are run in a rigorously commercial manner, working hard to offer excellent value for money while at the same time delivering a high quality, efficient legal service to our clients.
What do we look for in our trainees?
It is essential that you have either a Law degree or a non-law degree plus the CPE/GDL and will have completed and passed your Legal Practice Course by commencement of the training contract. We would like you to have at least a 2:1 degree but we will nevertheless consider your application if you have achieved or are on course to achieve a commendation, merit or distinction in the CPE/GDL/LPC. We would also like you to have enthusiasm, a desire to learn, good research, analytical, IT and communication skills, and the ability to relate well to others.
Recruitment process:
Applications need to be submitted via our online portal which can be found on the Norfolk County Council Jobs website at https://www.norfolk.gov.uk/jobs-training-and-volunteering/search - and-apply-for-a-job. You will also find more details there of the job description and person specification.
PLEASE STIPULATE IN YOUR APPLICATION WHICH START DATE YOU WOULD PREFER.
We intend to hold interviews on 9 and 10 March 2020.
Benefits:
You will be part of a large supportive team with excellent opportunities to develop your skills.
Conditions of service include flexible working hours and membership of the Local Government pension scheme.
