Locum Legal Services Manager – £400 - £550 daily rate – Thames Valley

 

Venn Group's specialist legal team are excited to be recruiting for a Locum Legal Services Manager to work for a Local Authority based in Thames Valley.

 

This contract is offered for an initial period of 4-6 months, ideally on a full-time basis, but part-time candidates may be considered.

 

The ideal candidate would be a qualified Solicitor or Barrister, have a strong understanding of Contracts and Commercial Law and possess previous managerial experience. Previous managerial experience within a Local Authority is desirable but not essential.

 

The successful applicant will be expected to carry out various responsibilities including:

 

  • Being responsible for the management and overall provision of effective and timely legal services to the Authority

  • Efficiently handling a caseload of Contracts and Commercial Law matters

  • Representing the Local Authority before the Courts, Tribunals and Public Enquiries

  • Advising on various day to day legal issues and assisting the Head of Law and Governance on the legal budget process and business planning

  • Deputising for the Head of Law and Governance and Monitoring Officer as and when required

  • Regularly reviewing and updating systems and procedures within the legal team

  •  

    It is essential that candidates have a level of commercial understanding due to the nature of the Local Authorities objectives and the projects the legal team will be supporting.

     

    An attractive daily rate of between £400 to £550 (umbrella rate) is offered, dependent upon experience.
