Regeneration Projects Lawyers

Manchester City Council Legal Services is the largest shared legal service in the country, providing high-quality, value-for-money legal services to all departments of Manchester and Salford City Councils. We also act for a number of external clients including the Greater Manchester Combined Authority.

Manchester City Council is now recruiting to two key roles to contribute and complement our Legal Services team which is based in the Town Hall in the centre of Manchester. This is an exciting opportunity for talented individuals to be part of an ambitious and dynamic Council with a substantial growth and regeneration programme.

We work closely with councillors/members, strategic partners, developers and stakeholders to deliver a wide range of projects; including Factory - a new theatre and arts venue, Manchester Northern Gateway - one of the UK's largest residential masterplans and an opportunity to deliver 15000 new homes for Manchester and Salford Crescent – a collaboration between Salford City Council and the University of Salford to deliver a new city district with 2,500 homes, the redevelopment of the University campus, a new industry innovation park and a cultural quarter built around key heritage assets

We are now seeking suitably qualified lawyers (either Solicitor, Barrister or fellow of CILEx) with prior local government experience/knowledge who have excellent communication and drafting skills and the ability to lead and deliver major regeneration projects and other complex sensitive matter.

The right individual will build positive working relationships with colleagues and clients, be motivated and able to hit the ground running. They will also be able to manage a challenging caseload, provide advice on complex matters and demonstrate highly developed negotiation and drafting skills.

If you have a commercial/contract, commercial property and/or planning experience there is scope to tailor the emphasis of each role to suit a candidate’s skills and areas of interest.
