In-House Legal Counsel
Location: Sheffield
GDMA Group are looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated and proactive individual to join an expanding business that works across numerous sectors including Property, Social Care and Training. A candidate with a good understanding of contract, commercial and property law is desired for this exciting opportunity to be part of the growth of the company.
You will be supporting the commercial business by providing advice on a variety of legal and compliance related matters, as well as drafting, reviewing and negotiating a wide range of contracts, communications with suppliers and customers, authorities and other stakeholders.
You will primarily be focusing on commercial contracts, but will also involve general corporate governance, intellectual property and dispute resolutions with the assistance of external counsel.
Main responsibilities of your new role
As In-house counsel you will be:
- Advising on various aspects of the laws and regulations applicable to the organisation
- Reviewing of and/or drafting various commercial contracts with suppliers and third parties
- Research and write briefing papers on regulatory change
- Research on aspects of commercial and employment law where require
- Handling & assisting with litigation and disputes
- Reviewing and proposing updates to various aspects of corporate governance
- Meeting/committee support work
Candidate requirements
In relation to this Legal Counsel vacancy, the firm wishes to speak with applicants who demonstrate:
- Good academic credentials and post-qualification experience. PQE 2-6
- In-house legal experience is preferred (directly, or as a secondee) but is not essential
- Strong commercial understanding, and excellent interpersonal skills.
- Desire to provide excellent client service and an ability to build strong working relationships with stakeholders.
- The ability to adapt to new situations and work environments, and a thirst for new challenges.
- You must have the right to work and be eligible to practice as a lawyer in the UK.
