Locum Childcare Lawyer – up to £45 per hour – Northern Home Counties – Remote Working

 

Venn Group's specialist legal team are delighted to be recruiting for a Locum Childcare Lawyer with a Local Authority based in Northern Home Counties.

 

The team are looking for someone to carry out the role for an initial period of 3 months on a remote working basis for the foreseeable future but there may be an expectation for some office working once the government advice permits this. Our client is ideally looking for someone to join the team on either a full-time or part time basis.

 

The ideal candidate will be a Solicitor, Barrister or Legal Executive with strong and recent knowledge of Childcare Law gained within Local Government.

 

The successful applicant may be expected to carry out various responsibilities including:

 

  • Provide Childcare Public Law advice and undertake all aspects of Care Proceedings work

  • Attend and advise at meetings across the County attended by professionals, particularly Legal Planning Meetings and PLO meetings and other similar meetings as directed by the Principal Lawyer and/or Assistant Chief Legal Officer

  • Conduct advocacy before the Family Courts and instruct counsel where appropriate as well as preparation of cases

  • Ensure that decisions made by the client department are lawful and accord with County Council policy

  • maintain an awareness of all relevant legislation, policy and regulations, investigate and advise on implications of changing legislation, case law and codes of practice and policy and provide briefing notes and training for colleagues and client officers

  •  

    The role is offering an attractive rate of up to £45 per hour umbrella dependent upon experience.
