Job Details

Liverpool has become the most exciting and rapidly evolving place to live and work in the North-West. This is reflected in the Council's Legal Services department, which deals with a significant quantity of challenging legal work associated with the delivery of Mayor’s and the City Council’s aims and priorities.

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Contracts & Commercial Team in Legal Services (part of the City Solicitor’s Office) for an experienced Commercial Lawyer with experience in the Adult Social Care and Health sector to deal with an increase in workload pertaining to adult services contracts and commercial arrangements.

The post holder will be required to undertake commercial contract and project work, including high profile procurements, commercial and grant programmes, joint ventures and partnership arrangements, care contracts, financial transactions and general contracts work.

This is an opportunity to work in an exciting and forward thinking local authority as part of a dynamic and multi-disciplinary legal department. The work will be fast paced and highly varied in nature.

This post is an attractive and challenging opportunity for a highly motivated lawyer to bring their experience and enthusiasm to the team and to build on their experience.

We offer a generous annual leave entitlement, local government pension scheme, flexible working arrangements and a work environment which gives you the opportunity to use and develop your skills within a forward-thinking service.

The successful applicant will be undertaking a wide range of legal work across the Council's directorates, with particular emphasis on the Adult Services directorate. The responsibilities of the post will include drafting of complex legal documentation, as well as provision of advice to officers at all levels of the organisation and to members of the Council on key commercial aspects of proposed transactions (including public procurement, state aid, general contract law and local government and public law implications).

You should have excellent organisational, drafting, legal research and communication skills and be able to manage a heavy workload. You need to be flexible and innovative in your approach and help us to enable the Mayor and the City Council to deliver their aims and priorities.

Please refer to the attached Person Specification for further details.
