Head of Family Mediation/Family Law Solicitor

Talented Family Lawyer/Mediator sought for leadership role

We are seeking a family solicitor and mediator to join our team.

Family Mediation Council or Law Society Accreditation desirable but not essential as we can provide a route to accreditation

You will lead the mediation team – which we intend to grow and will be part of our management team.

You will combine mediation with a legal caseload which could be divorce or children based or a combination.

The Role

• Family Law specialist solicitor
• Resolution Member
• Mediation trained and either already accredited or working toward accreditation.
• You will work with/be mentored by our founder who has been a mediator since 1996 and is a PPC and a member of Resolution’s DR Committee.(If mentoring needed).
• You will help grow our mediation team.
• Based in Exeter
• You will be encouraged to participate in wider mediation world
• Salary dependent on experience
• Flexible working is possible.

Given the uptake of mediation by videoconference we are open to consider candidates who are based outside of the south-west and who are comfortable with the provision of online mediation. (although we would want them to visit the office from time to time and commit to become fully integrated in our team).

Whilst our Head of Family Mediation will need to be accredited or able to gain accreditation within a reasonable period, we are committed to expanding our team of family solicitor – mediators. We will therefore be pleased to hear from family solicitors who are interested in adding family mediation to their skill set.

About Us

We are based in modern offices in Exeter and have a network of offices/locations from where we meet clients which is currently: Bath, Bristol, Honiton, Plymouth, Shaftesbury, Taunton, Torquay, Wells, Weston-Super-Mare and Yeovil. We are open to this network expanding further.

We hold a legal aid contract for mediation (and family law) and can provide a route to mediation accreditation.

We were founded by Ian Walker in 2013. We have grown from being simply Ian and a computer to a team of 12 solicitors and mediators. We believe that we now have a team of family lawyers as strong as anyone else in the South-West.

Ian Walker trained as a mediator in 1996 and was one of the first solicitors to gain mediation accreditation with Resolution. He is currently accredited with both the FMC and the Law Society. Ian is accredited for consultation with children in mediation and is also a PPC. Ian is a former trustee of the Family Mediators Association and is a current member of Resolution’s DR Committee. Ian is also the long-standing chair of the Devon region of Resolution. Lauren Preedy, Head of our Divorce Team is Chair of Somerset Resolution.
