Are you getting fed up with the daily grind of corporate high-pressure city life? Commuting on trains and dealing with the crowds on the trek into the office?  Would you like to practice good quality law and maintain a better work / life balance whilst still developing your career?  Then we have exactly what you are looking for…

With offices in beautiful Cumbria and Newcastle-upon-Tyne, Burnetts is one of the biggest and most progressive law firms in the North of England we are looking to recruit an Employment Partner to lead and continue to develop our Employment team.

Who are we looking for?

We need someone with strong technical skills and a wide a range of experience in employment law. You will be able to provide the full range of quality employment advice, support and training to our clients, made up of leading businesses and other organisations.    You will also be expected to lead on business development, and on existing and new initiatives such as seminars, workshops and tenders for new work.

In addition to your technical ability, you will need to:

  • be a forward thinking and self-motivated individual and be the right fit for our culture; we are committed to developing excellent leaders and enhancing the employee experience through modern engagement practices.
  • have strong interpersonal skills enabling you to collaborate well internally and develop strong relationships with both our existing and new clients externally;
  • demonstrate a proven and successful track record in, and enthusiasm for, the mentoring and development of employment team.

Established connections in Cumbria and the NE would be an advantage, but are not essential for the role.  The location of the role is flexible across our offices in Cumbria and Newcastle, but with a preference for you to be based in Cumbria.   We will consider agile working as part of the role, but a presence within the team environment is essential, given the requirements of the role.

What do we offer?

We are offering the opportunity for you to work in a forward-thinking law firm with a well-established client base.  Our values of Committed, Accessible, Grounded and Expert, help to engender a culture of providing excellent client service within a caring and supportive internal environment.     Please see our website for further information about who we are and what we value at: https://www.burnetts.co.uk/

Did you know that several Cumbrian towns were named this year in the Sunday Times top 10 places to live, with Cumbria being the most represented county? Many of our current lawyers have moved to join us from various parts of the UK for this very reason.  Cumbria is great for everyone with its mountains, lakes, forests and rivers; the Lake District National Park offers outdoor pursuits such as walking, climbing, mountain biking and water sports, to name a few, and the way of life is perfect for families.  You too could be enjoying this life alongside a satisfying and rewarding career!  Check out one of our current Partner’s experience with relocating to Cumbria after joining Burnetts  https://www.burnetts.co.uk/careers/returning-to-cumbria/spencer-knaggs

We can provide you with long-term career prospects along with a competitive salary, pension, 28 days holiday and a Medicash healthcare plan; in addition, we will even give you your birthday off every year too!

If this role sounds like the next step in your career then please send your CV with covering letter to our Head of People, Claire Harrison at cha@burnetts.co.uk
