We have an exciting opportunity for a paralegal or lawyer to work as part of our Property department and with the General Counsel’s (Legal Services) department.

The national office of the Church in Wales is the base for a wide range of central activities. These activities include the operations of a large charity (the Representative Body) and colleagues who support the Church’s mission and ministry. The organisation holds title to most church property on behalf of the wider church, including the six Dioceses and several hundred parishes that make up the Church in Wales.

The current portfolio includes nearly 1200 churches, 700 residential properties and a multi-million pound commercial/industrial/glebe investment portfolio. The organisation is also responsible for the management and disposal of closed churches.

We currently employ two in-house lawyers – the General Counsel (Head of Legal Services) and a Solicitor. Both lawyers work as part of the General Counsel’s department and work with the Property department on day-to-day transactional work in addition to their primary governance, constitutional and trust caseloads.

The Legal Officer (Property) will work with colleagues in the Property and General Counsel’s departments to manage and co-ordinate the delivery of legal services relating to the church’s property portfolio.
