Salary per annum £47,822 – £62,817

Hertsmere is located in southern Hertfordshire – we are 13 miles from Central London and within the M25. We adjoin Greater London with excellent road and rail links making London and the Home Counties easily accessible. The Council Offices are situated in Borehamwood within Zone 6 and with a direct rail link into London Kings Cross St. Pancras. The area is an internationally renowned centre for film and television production, home to BBC Elstree and Elstree Studios (a council owned asset).
We are looking for a Solicitor or Barrister entitled to hold a current Practising Certificate who is able to demonstrate substantial legal knowledge in both Planning and Local Government Law.
The post holder will directly lead and manage a team of lawyers and will also deputise for the Head of Legal & Democratic Services in their absence including in the capacity of Senior Responsible Officer for corporate information management. The will assist in the provision of a professional legal service and ensure the delivery of services is efficient, cost effective and customer focused.
The successful candidate will be a well-organised, efficient person, highly regarded with previous management experience. They will be able to adjust to demands and define priorities, work rapidly and accurately and have the ability to communicate effectively with other professionals, elected members, senior managers within the council and the general public.
The post is offered on a full time, permanent basis (36 hours per week).
