Chief Legal Officer/Solicitor to the Council
Salary: £57,541 – £62,995
The Role
We have an exciting opportunity for a qualified Solicitor to act as the Council’s legal adviser and discharge the statutory duties of the monitoring officer.
As part of the senior management team you will take a proactive role in ensuring the Council’s vision, values, priorities and strategic objectives are actively promoted and made a reality. Playing a key role in ensuring the council team continues to be fit for purpose, you will work collaboratively with senior leaders and elected councillors in implementing the council’s overall strategic direction.
Who are we?
With world class coast, countryside, a thriving artist quarter in the Old Town, brimming over with creativity and history, outstanding architecture and a variety of boutiques Hastings is a popular place to live and visit. Low house prices, good schools, beautiful parks, an attractive environment, an outstanding community spirit and a new link road makes a move to Hastings a very positive investment into your future.
Hastings has seen significant development in the past few years, not least a multi-million-pound project to restore its historic pier and the economy-boosting link road.
Who are you?
The ideal person for this role will hold a Law Society Practising Certificate or Bar Standards Practising Certificate. You will already have experience of provision of legal services and practice at senior level within a local authority environment. You will also be able to demonstrate a clear understanding of local government practice and procedure. You will be highly professional with excellent communication and influencing skills and the ability to learn from and respond swiftly to change.
Full details of the qualification and experience required for the role can be found in the attached job description. This is a politically restricted post.
