Your new company
A non-ministerial department who are responsible for inspecting services who provide education and skills for learners of all ages. They also inspect and regulate services that care for children and young people. The Legal Services team is led and managed by the Deputy Director, Legal Services. The team provides legal and professional advice and support on all aspects of public law relevant to the department (including the conduct of litigation). There is currently a need for an interim Legal Adviser.

Your new role
In your new role, you will support the wider legal team on a range of matters, including the provision of timely, accurate and high quality legal advice and support on issues and risks affecting the organisation. You will be responsible for commenting on and drafting legislation/legislative changes and advising how best to implement such changes. In addition you will provide advice and support to the organisation so that sound legal advice underpins the decisions taken and that the legal implications of those actions are understood. Finally you will liaise with Government Departments and external stakeholders on legal issues affecting the department.

What you'll need to succeed
To be considered for this role, you should be a qualified Lawyer/Barrister with a minimum of 3 years post qualified experience. Non UK trained Lawyers will still be considered, and the QLTS is preferred. You should have demonstrable experience of working in the public sector and have a good understanding of public law. Experience of working within education, child care and social services is also desirable but not essential. Finally, experience of advising on commercial/procurement and/or employment issues and litigation is desirable.
