Childcare Lawyer (Permanent)

Venn Group’s Specialist Legal Team are excited to be recruiting for a Childcare Lawyer to join Leicester City Council’s established Child Safeguarding Team. Leicester City Council is the unitary authority serving the people, communities and businesses of Leicester, the biggest city in the East Midlands.
 
This excellent opportunity offers a salary of £39880 - £42821 per annum and includes a number of other employee benefits to include a great pension scheme, flexible working arrangements and a generous annual leave entitlement. Whilst the Council's preference is to secure someone on a full-time basis, those with relevant experience who are able to offer part-time hours will also be considered.
 
Primary responsibilities of the post-holder will be to:

- Advise, negotiate and represent the Council as advocate in the conduct of child protection proceedings

- Provide high quality legal advice in accordance with excellent service standards in a manner which is purposeful, meets client needs and achieves corporate priorities in a changing legal landscape

- Provide legal advice and representation to the Council on matters relating to child protection.

- Draft legal documents as required, instruct Counsel to act on behalf of the Council where necessary and assist in the training and supervision of less experienced staff

- Give presentations/training on legal matters to officers as required and carry out other miscellaneous duties associated with the role

This position is suited to candidates who possess demonstrable knowledge and experience of handling Child Protection matters either within a Local Authority or Private Practice. It is essential that you are a qualified Solicitor, Barrister or Legal Executive to be considered for this opportunity.
