Your new company
An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Lawyer to join a North London Local Authority as a Principle Lawyer overseeing the Employment, Education and Corporate team. This is a Locum role, initially for three months with the opportunity of extension.

Your new role
As the Principle Lawyer, you will report directly into the Assistant Head of Legal Services and will be responsible for managing a team of two Lawyers. You will be responsible for providing specialist legal advice on complex issues to clients and to carry out their instructions in accordance with the Councils values. You will lead and manage special and corporate projects including the provision of high level specialist legal advice. Finally you will lead, manage, motivate and develop the Employment, Education and Corporate team, supervising work flow into the team.

What you'll need to succeed
To be considered for the role, you must be a qualified Solicitor, Barrister or CILEX professional with at least one year's experience of working in a middle management position in legal services, preferably within a public sector setting. You will have experience of advising at the highest level on complex constitutional and corporate governance issues affecting local authorities. You will ideally have experience of leading corporate projects as well as developing staff members. Finally, should have practical experience of Employment law.

What you'll get in return

On offer is a competitive rate of between £40-£45 per hour depending on experience. The successful candidate will be expected to work remotely during the Covid-19 pandemic bit will be provided with a laptop. The contract is initially for 3 months with the likely hood of extension.
