Private Client Solicitor – Head of Department Role

North Yorkshire

QED Legal are working with one of the leading full-service legal practices in North Yorkshire who are looking for a highly experienced Solicitor to join their highly thought of private client team. This is an excellent opportunity for a lawyer to work at a modern and forward-thinking practice.

The Candidate

Candidates of 7+ years PQE are ideal for this role.  The firm are less concerned with PQE level and more interested in the quality of experience  that you can bring.  You may be a senior associate looking for the next step in your career or you may be an experienced manager looking for a change.

The role will involve managing a team of 10, made up of Solicitors and paralegals.  As well as day to day team management you would also run a reduced caseload.  The work is a real broad mix of private client Solicitor work including Wills, Trusts, Estate Planning, Powers of Attorney, Probate and assisting other senior lawyers on complex matters.

You will have a real desire to get out into the community to promote the firm and build and forge new relationships as well as continue to foster and develop existing ones.

Nurturing and promoting existing talent would also be part of the role, so experience and an interest of training and developing junior lawyers is important.

Those with both full STEP qualification and membership of Solicitors for the Elderly would be of particular interest, but if you are on the way to those memberships or have a genuine interest in getting your full qualification/membership then the firm would also like to speak to you.

The Firm

The firm have been a mainstay of the North Yorkshire and wider northern region for many years. Recognised as leaders in the major legal directories the quality of work they deal with and advice they provide is excellent. They are also a very forward-thinking firm with using cutting edge IT, having a fantastic workspace and flexible working with a flexi time system in operation too.  The firm as a whole are very open to flexible working and can accommodate a host of arrangements to suit individual lawyers.

Benefits

With 25 days annual leave (+Bank Holidays), company pension, flexi-time, death in service, health insurance, cycle to work scheme and more they have excellent benefits all centred around a really nice place to work.

For further information or to make an application please contact Claire Black at QED Legal.

Company

QED
An acronym of the latin phrase quod erat demonstrandum which translates as "thus it is demonstrated" or "that which was to be demonstrated". It is most often used as an annotation at the end of a complex mathematical, scientific or philosophical argument to show that the author had proven what he had set out to prove. In recent times it has also been translated as "Quite Easily Done".

As a recruiter you have to network and speak to large amounts of people and lots of law firms to really understand the market and have the connections to match people with opportunity quickly when the time arises. A good recruiter needs to be Quick, Excellent and Dynamic in everything that they do. Allow the team at QED to demonstrate what they can do for your firm or your career.
