Contract - 6 months

£33 - £44 per hour
London (Currently Remote)

About the Role:
An exciting opportunity has arisen for 3x Planning Law Lawyers to join a Central Government Legal Department in London for a minimum of 6 months. These diverse role that combines advisory work with contentious litigation across a broad range of planning issues. The successful candidates will be a qualified Lawyers (Solicitor, Barrister or equivalent) and will have strong complex planning experience. The role is open to lawyers with planning experience in other commonwealth jurisdictions.

Key Requirements

The ideal candidate for these Planning Law Lawyer roles will have:

  • Qualified Lawyer (Solicitor, Barrister or equivalent)
  • Experience managing a caseload of complex planning cases
  • Planning Litigation experience is highly desirable
  • Experience of statutory drafting is highly desirable
  • 3+ years of post-qualified experience
  • Public sector/Local Government experience desirable but not essential

Key responsibilities
The successful candidate for these Planning Law Lawyer roles will be required to:

  • Providing legal advice to planning policy colleagues on reforms to the planning system
  • Providing advice to planning casework colleagues and to ministers on planning decisions called in for the Secretary of State's own determination and on recovered appeals
  • Providing advice to planning policy colleagues on housing
  • Providing training or training materials for policy colleagues

  • Central London location (when office based)
  • Central Government role
  • 6 month contract with likely extension based on performance
  • £33-44 per hour
  • Remote working with a flexible working arrangements available in the future
