Legal Counsel / Legal Manager – Helsby (Cheshire)

Role & Responsibilities

We are looking for a self-motivated, enthusiastic corporate/commercial lawyer of at least 4-5 years PQE to join our small and extremely busy inhouse legal team to assist with a variety of corporate and commercial work, which will include:

  • company secretarial administration and compliance work for our group companies, including internationally
  • corporate acquisitions
  • commercial contracts, including international projects, and property matters.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a lawyer with a good grounding in corporate and/or commercial work who has the acumen to deal with a hugely varied workload and understands the importance of commerciality in their legal advice. 

Experience in the Group’s sectors preferred but not essential and candidates looking for full or part-time (24-30 hours per week) will be considered, with flexible working arrangements available. 

This is a key hire and will provide vital day to day support to the business reporting directly to the Legal & Compliance Counsel. The position will be challenging and varied giving the successful candidate a great opportunity to expand both their legal and company secretarial experience.

Desired Experience

The successful candidate will ideally have a background in corporate/commercial law with an appreciation of company secretarial duties in a fast-paced environment. This role is most suited to an adaptable person who will thrive under pressure and be happy to take on new challenges.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Qualified Solicitor with 4-5 years PQE
  • Law Degree/GDL/MA Law
  • Legal Practice Course, with optional modules being corporate/commercial focused
  • Admitted to Solicitors Roll
  • Good communication and organisational skills
  • Approachable
  • Ability to analyse, interpret and work to a high level of accuracy with a keen eye for detail
  • Team player and wiling to ‘roll sleeves up’
  • Self-motivated and can show initiative
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines and demonstrable experience working under pressure in a fast-paced role
