The Council is involved in Judicial Review Planning claims and it is desirable that you have some experience of such cases, along with knowledge and experience of CPR 54. You will also ideally have experience of Judicial Review claims in relation to Homelessness and the Housing Act 1996.

You will have a good knowledge and experience of Criminal Law, evidence and procedure, as you will also be dealing with prosecutions such as, litter and fly tipping offences. You will also deal with other Regulatory offences and represent the council in the Magistrates Court.

As a Litigation Solicitor you will need to be skilled in advising in relation to all Local Government Regulatory matters, such as, statutory nuisance and in relation to RIPA , FOI/EIA and DPA matters. You will have excellent drafting skills, be able to give clear written advice and be able to work under pressure to meet court deadlines. Preferably you will have experience and knowledge of the Licensing Act 2003 and of acting as a legal adviser to Licensing committees.

This is a great opportunity for candidates looking for a consistent range of interesting work, as well as those looking to step into a Senior position. 5+ years' PQE candidates will be considered and Solicitors, Barristers or Legal Executives coming from a Private Practice background are also encouraged to apply.
