The NHS Business Services Authority plays a key role in delivering services to the wider healthcare system, responsible for £billions of public money. This role involves managing relationships with suppliers, sourcing and negotiating new contracts, and providing expert commercial advice across our business.
It is an opportunity to move to a hands on role, working each day for an organisation you can be proud of, while getting exposure to exciting new areas like cutting edge data analysis tech/AI and agile ways of working. We are particularly interested to hear from candidates with a legal background, including qualified lawyers working in private practice or elsewhere who are looking for a new challenge.
No particular area of legal specialism is required. Although commercial, IP, contract or procurement law are particularly relevant, we are interested in general legal skills – e.g. identifying and advising on risks, negotiating and drafting documents, interpreting key legislation in practice, building productive relationships.
Alongside many experienced procurement/contract management professionals, our Commercial Services Team already has a qualified lawyer and several others with legal qualifications. We are now keen to build on this, and so you will be expected to use your legal background to help spot issues, find solutions and spread that expertise across the team to those with different professional backgrounds.
In this role, you will be right at the heart of delivering projects, rather than looking in from the outside. You’ll be meeting (currently remotely) day in day out with operations leads, IT experts, finance managers and suppliers, building up your skills in senior stakeholder and supplier management. You will also help us get the most out of our panel of external legal advisors.
You will be expected to help develop solutions that work first and foremost commercially, not just legally, but will be taking on this exciting challenge within a supportive team environment, knowing that you are everyday working towards delivering vital services that support the NHS.
What you’ll receive when you come and work for us: · Friendly, welcoming team · 27 days paid annual leave (increasing with length of service) + Bank Holidays · Flexible working · Great pension · Access to online and high street discounts · Sociable atmosphere · Colleague and mentor support.
If you would like to be part of this team and the NHS, please take the time to apply.
