12 months fixed-term-contract

We are looking for a Professionals Regulation Manager (PRM) with a legal background to lead and manage the performance of a professionals regulation team in the end to end management of fitness to practice cases.

Salary: £47,047 - £60,300 per annum plus benefits, depending on skills and experience

Location: Canary Wharf, London (currently home-based)

Hours: 35 hours per week, from 9.00 to 5.00, Monday to Friday.

The role

The PRM will work as part of the wider professionals regulation team and be responsible for the development and line management of a multidisciplinary team including two or more Professionals Regulation Lawyers and one or more Case Officers and/or Senior Case Officers.

The post holder will also be required to assist in the development of the GPhC’s policies, procedures and processes to support achievement of quality, timeliness and efficiency objectives. This role is a 12 month fixed-term-contract opportunity with the possibility of extension.

The successful applicant will have:

  • Significant experience of successfully managing people and their performance, including business planning and objective setting; making the best use of people’s skills to achieve business objectives whilst motivating and developing staff.
  • Proven track record of managing performance and process improvement to ensure delivery to required quality and timescales, as well as being able to identify and implement improvements to procedures and processes to enhance service delivery.
  • The ability to effectively manage, prepare and present cases before the GPhC’s Fitness to Practice Committee including all pre and post-hearing activities.
  • The skill to maintain up to date knowledge of fitness to practise, regulatory case law and best practice including any guidance issued by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA) and briefing colleagues accordingly.
  • Experience of successfully managing and working with a multidisciplinary team.
  • Detailed knowledge of investigative methods, rules of evidence and the legislative and policy framework in the healthcare regulation environment.
  • The ability to assimilate, understand and interpret complex legislation in relation to medicines, controlled drugs and the practice of pharmacy.
  • Experience as a positive and proactive role model for change, striving for high standards and continuous improvement in the way work is done.
  • Proven track record in effective case management against agreed targets in a high-volume case load environment.
  • Experience at contributing to and drafting policy and procedural documents.
