Here at SLLP we provide a wide range of legal services to the London Boroughs of Merton, Richmond, Sutton, Wandsworth and the Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames, making us the largest local authority shared legal service in the country. As such, we are able to offer employment opportunities across all aspects of local government legal work. We take pride in offering a high quality and proactive legal service, bringing all the insight that being an in house service involves and combining that with commercial expertise and a breadth of experience smaller teams may not be able to offer.
We are based in South West London and in normal times, our team can work out of any of 5 locations as well as remotely - agile working has been business as usual for a long time in SLLP. We have a wide range of flexible working options and have developed a number of health and well-being initiatives over the years.
In the last few months we have agreed a new structure with our partner councils. One which we are confident will be fit for purpose in the medium term and we are now in the fortunate position of being able to offer a number of permanent roles within our Procurement and Information Team. The roles we are looking to fill include Principal Lawyer and Lawyer.
We are looking for energetic and enthusiastic applicants, keen to develop their skills in a public sector environment. Please do not be put off if you don’t have local government expertise – it is your determination to provide a top class legal service which will matter most, the rest can follow.

About South London Legal Partnership
The South London Legal Partnership is hosted by the London Borough of Merton.
It is a five borough shared service providing comprehensive and high quality legal services to combining the legal teams from Merton, Richmond, Kingston, Sutton and Wandsworth Councils.
South London Legal Partnership is divided into four teams:
Property and Commercial Team – The team provides legal advice and support in relation to procurement, contracts, property and employment matters for all councils.
Litigation, Housing and Planning Team – The team litigates on behalf of all the Councils in the civil and criminal courts. The team also advises on all planning and highways matters.
Social Care and Education – the team provides legal advice and support to adults’ and children’s social care teams as well as to the education teams for all councils.
Practice Management Team – the team supports the legal service by providing administrative support to the legal officers and practice management support and information to legal services managers.
The service has two main office hubs in Wandsworth and Morden but there is flexibility to work across all 5 council locations .
